FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the things people usually ask before booking. If yours isn't here, just ask.

Getting started

What happens in the first session?

The first session is mainly about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brought you in, what life looks like right now, and what you'd like to be different. There's no pressure to have the right words or to share more than you're ready to — plenty of people start with "I'm not sure where to begin", and that's a perfectly good start.

What age groups do you work with?

I work with adults aged 18 and over.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly — a GP referral isn't needed.

What if I'm not sure counselling is for me?

That's a common place to start. You're welcome to book a single session and see how it feels — there's no obligation to continue.

Fees and booking

How long is a session?

Each session is one-on-one and runs for 60 minutes.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are A$130, paid securely online when you book.

When are sessions available?

Weekdays 4–6pm and Saturdays 9am–5pm (AEST).

Are rebates available?

No. Sessions are private-pay and rebates are not available.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Bookings are non-refundable and can't be cancelled once paid.

In-person and online sessions

Where do in-person sessions take place?

In-person sessions take place at Eli House Counselling, 50 Township Drive, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220. On-site parking is available.

Can I meet online?

Yes. You can choose online sessions from anywhere in Australia, or meet in person in Burleigh Heads — whichever suits you.

Can I switch between online and in person?

Yes. Some people mix the two depending on the week. Just choose the format when you book.

Confidentiality and approach

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. What you share in sessions is treated confidentially, subject to the legal, ethical and safety obligations that apply to all counselling in Australia — for example, where there's a serious risk to someone's safety or a legal requirement to disclose. I'm happy to explain those clearly in our first session.

What is your approach?

My approach is client-led and trauma-informed: you set the goals, the pace and the direction, and I bring the structure and support. I check in regularly about what's helping and adjust as we go.

Do I need to be religious?

No. Faith is welcome if it's part of your story, and equally so if it isn't.
